Moffett and General Aviation

Some people such as the Coalition For Responsible Airport Management and Policy, a general aviation advocacy group, would like to have Moffett serve some general aviation (private aircraft) as a more palatable alternative to cargo jets. Others argue that such aircraft can actually be noisier than jets. In a 1992 advisory vote, Sunnyvale voted against general aviation at Moffett.

As a federal facility, Moffett is open only to government and government sponsored activities. This seems to preclude private aviation, while allowing air cargo through the provisions (or loophole, depending on your viewpoint) of the Civil Reserve Air Fleet.
