State
Senator Quentin Kopp plans to introduce a bill to increase state
regulation
of airport noise. In August 1997, Kopp asked the California Department
of
Transportation to look into:
Requiring community
notification when flight patterns change.
Beefing up enforcement of
existing noise standards.
Toughening standards to account for
low-frequency noise from newer
airplanes.
Giving more weight to night
noise rather than simply measuring cumulative
noise.
