MVVP will organize three activities to highlight the event.
Depending on when the 2000th death is announced, the timing for the events may vary:
SCENARIO #1. If 2000 is announced Sunday, October 23 there will be a single vigil MONDAY evening, at 7:00 pm, at the corner of El Camino Real and Castro Street in MOUNTAIN VIEW. Karen Meredith, Mountain View's own Gold Star Mother for Peace, is the host. Activists from Los Altos and Sunnyvale will join us at this event.
Then, on TUESDAY evening at 6:30 pm, there will be at least three local vigils: El Camino and Castro in MOUNTAIN VIEW; the SUNNYVALE Community Center, Remington and Michaelangelo; and Singer Plaza, at State and Main in LOS ALTOS.
SCENARIO #2. If 2000 is announced Monday, October 24 or later, there will be at least three local vigils the next evening (TUESDAY or later) at 6:30 pm: El Camino and Castro in MOUNTAIN VIEW; the SUNNYVALE Community Center, Remington and Michaelangelo; and Singer Plaza, at State and Main in LOS ALTOS.
In either case, we will hold our MARCH TO REMEMBER THE DEAD on SATURDAY, October 29 1:00 PM. We will march down El Camino Real. We will begin at 1:00 pm at the Sunnyvale City Hall on Olive near Pastoria, and we'll march along El Camino to Castro Street, ending up at the Mountain View City Hall at Mercy and Castro. The route is 3 miles. We'll be organizing car pools to ferry participants back to the start.
At the events we will display our "Iraq War Memorial Wall," which displays the names of the official war dead.
Please monitor the MVVP web site http://www.mvvp.org, not only for the count, but for announcements of activities.
