Congress appears to be backsliding on the Iraq War, and unfortunately our Representative, Anna Eshoo, seems to be part of that trend. This week she voted to condemn MoveOn.org's challenge to the testimony of General David Petraeus, and she has failed to sign the "showdown" letter endorsed thus far by 82 other Members of Congress. In that letter, the signers pledge that they "will only support appropriating additional funds for U.S. military operations in Iraq during Fiscal Year 2008 and beyond for the protection and safe redeployment of all our troops out of Iraq before [Bush leaves] office."
At the Mountain View Voices for Peace meeting Thursday night, we decided that it is time for Anna to hear from her constituents, loud and clear. We have just sent the attached letter to her office.
Here's what we would like you to do. Please act soon. Congress may be voting on Iraq-related legislation the first week in October.
